OUR HISTORY
In September of 2005, Sauk Valley Community Church and Community Alliance Church merged to form a new group. The new group retained the Sauk Valley Community Church name and established a relationship with the Christian & Missionary Alliance as an affiliated congregation.

Community Alliance Church
What eventually became known as Community Alliance Church started as a simple Bible study here in Dixon. Eventually, property at the corner of Ottawa & Fifth was purchased and a structure built that became commonly known as The Tabernacle. In the late 1960s, property west of Dixon on Route 2 was purchased and a facility built. The Ottawa Street property was sold to another church group. Community Alliance Church prospered in its new location, reaching upwards of 200+ worshippers at various points. During the 1970s, the congregation sponsored Hmong refugees from southeast asia. Over the years quite a few young adults from the congregation entered pastoral and/or missionary careers.

Sauk Valley Community Church
What eventually became known as Sauk Valley Community Church started as a small group meeting in a farmer's machine shed south of Harmon. A permanent building was eventually erected and Harmon Christian Assembly was born. The group slowly grew and eventually moved into Dixon in the early 2000s, purchasing the Ottawa Street property from the group which had purchased it in the 1960s from Community Alliance Church.

In early 2005, the pastors of the two congregations began contemplating a merger of the groups. By September of that year, the merger was accomplished. Sunday services were held at both locations for a time. Eventually a full transition was made to the Ottawa Street location, and in late 2006 renovations were started at the Route 2 facility. In early 2007, all activities were moved to the Route 2 location, and the Ottawa Street facility was sold in June.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Click here for a detailed statement that includes scriptures.

God is bigger and closer than we can imagine.

Jesus is God loving us.

Each of us - created to reflect God - has sadly turned away from our destiny.

God changes lives and turns us back to our destiny.

The changes that God makes can be felt in the heart and observed in the life.

God shows Himself to the world in the lives of His people.

There's something beyond this life... heaven & hell.
